I have enjoyed a two decade long career as a sound engineer working regularly in rock, pop, theatre & classical musical worlds. I am well established as a live engineer and for location recording, as well a producer and engineer in the studio.
With an ever expanding list of regular artists and ensembles to have called upon my services, highlights include Brit Award winner Björk, the five time Grammy Award winner Amy Winehouse, double Mercury winner PJ Harvey, Marc Almond, Soft Cell, Roisin Murphy, ‘The First Lady of Musical Theatre’ Elaine Paige, Florence + The Machine, Metronomy, Fairport Convention, Vanessa Mae, The Coral, Melanie C, Dionne Bromfield, Amy MacDonald, The BBC Proms Series, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Gorillaz Sound Systems, Kano, Natalie Imbruglia and Beverley Knight. Plus production tours looking after sound requirements for OASIS, Duran Duran, Chicago, Jools Holland, The Decemberists and Pearl Jam. Recent TV credits include mixing monitors for "The Voice" on BBC1, Strictly Come Dancing, and front of house on the for the Mercury Prize and BBC Music Awards .
I started my career in 1998 touring as a sound technician, and then went on to read music at University graduating with a 1st Class BMus(Hons) in Music & Sound Recording. I spent a number of years working for ‘Sound By Design’ as a senior engineer, designing and mixing hundreds of events a year at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Hampton Court Palace and countless venues and theatres across the UK. Leaving to go freelance in 2007, since then my reputation has carried me across the globe as an engineer for a diverse range of productions and genres.
Other highlights include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 60th Birthday Concerts (UK & Scandinavia), BBC’s “Thank You For The Music” – a tribute to Abba in Hyde Park, “I Dreamed A Dream” – The Story of Susan Boyle for ITV, BBC’s “Later With Jools” & BBC’s “Top of The Pops”.
I also produced a number of studio albums and live DVD’s for British folk rock legends ‘Fairport Convention’, featuring guest tracks with legends such as Joe Brown (Concert For George) and Robert Plant (Led Zepplin).
I live in Ireland, but much of my work is based out of the UK and I spend equal time back and forth.
